School Eye Clinic Enters Its Second Phase, Aiming to Screen 120,000 Children

A proud milestone for Pakistan Eye Bank Society. The first phase of the School Eye Clinic Project has been completed, screening over 60,000 underprivileged school children across Karachi in just one year, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Heidelberg-Schloss, Germany.
PEBS was honoured to welcome H.E. Thomas Schultze, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, who inaugurated the second phase of the project. Beginning in August 2026, the initiative aims to screen 120,000 school children over the next year, continuing the mission to prevent avoidable blindness and create a healthier future for every child.

Karachi Police Personnel to Benefit from Comprehensive Healthcare Under PEBS Hospital MoU

Karachi Police and Pakistan Eye Bank Society (PEBS) Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Karachi Police Office (KPO) to strengthen cooperation in providing comprehensive healthcare services to serving and retired Karachi Police personnel and their immediate family members.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Qazi Sajid Ali, President, Pakistan Eye Bank Society, and Mr. Azad Khan, PSP, Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi Range. The witness signatories were Dr. Jehanzeb Mughal, Head of the Oral, Maxillofacial & Cancer Surgery Unit, PEBS Hospital, and Mr. Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, PSP, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Administration), Karachi Range. Mr. Qazi Yasir Sajid, Joint Secretary, Pakistan Eye Bank Society, was also present on the occasion.
Under the MoU, beneficiaries will receive free access to a wide range of healthcare services at PEBS Hospital, including ophthalmology, cardiology, diabetes care, dentistry, haemodialysis, oral and breast cancer surgery, maxillofacial surgery and diagnostic services. The agreement also aims to promote the early detection, treatment and prevention of oral pre-cancer and oral cancer through a unique screening programme for all Karachi Police personnel.

PEBS Hospital and KIRAN Partner on Free Oral and Breast Cancer Care

PEBS Hospital and KIRAN signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration in the free surgical management and referral of Oral and Breast Cancer patients, a significant step forward in strengthening cancer care in Pakistan.
The partnership will enhance patient referral pathways, promote awareness on Oral Cancer prevention and early Breast Cancer detection, and encourage scientific exchange through joint workshops, training programmes and research collaboration. Together, PEBS Hospital and KIRAN reaffirm their shared commitment to improving cancer care and expanding access to quality treatment for patients across Pakistan.

Free Breast Cancer Surgeries Commence at PEBS Hospital
2025
Following the launch of the Free Breast Cancer Unit with Mammogram and Ultrasound in 2024, donated by the Cowasjee Foundation, free breast cancer surgeries commenced in 2025. This initiative aims to combat the rising number of breast cancer cases in Pakistan, ensuring access to early detection and free treatment.

Oral Cancer Surgery Unit Established
2023
PEBS added the Oral Cancer Surgery Unit to address oral cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Pakistan, largely driven by the widespread consumption of pan, gutka, niswar, mawa and chalia. The department was inaugurated with the support of several Founding Donors, including Mr. Islam Salim, Patron PEBS, along with valued corporate partners.
To date, over 440 successful surgeries have been performed, providing life-saving treatment without any financial burden on patients.

Gift of Vision Programme Launched
2023
In collaboration with the Women’s Team of Los Angeles, USA, PEBS launched the Gift of Vision Programme, delivering free cataract surgeries in underserved communities. In its first year, the programme carried out 5,200 free surgeries across Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab, alongside providing free cardiac and diabetes checkups, lab tests, medicines, food aid, wheelchairs and slippers.
Over the past two years the initiative has expanded, with nearly 10,000+ cataract surgeries performed to date, while regular medical camps continue in remote areas of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.

Free Dialysis Unit Opens
2021
The Free Dialysis Unit marked a significant step in supporting patients with kidney failure, providing up to 2,400 dialysis treatments annually, completely free of cost, with the generous support of Mr. Sohail Yasin Suleman, Patron PEBS. Patients also receive free meals and prescribed medicines during treatment sessions.

PEBS Global Opportunity Centre (PEBS-GO)
PEBS Global Opportunity Centre helps students build their future with professional healthcare and language training, including paramedical technical courses and a certificate course in German language. Enrolment details, class schedules and fees are on the PEBS-GO page.
Community Outreach Programme
PEBS runs a successful Community Outreach Programme to educate the masses, the general public and suffering patients on the prevention of diseases. The seminars and workshops conducted at the PEBS auditorium have provided information and measures to prevent major diseases to thousands of men, women and children.
