In 1962, a small group of passionate volunteers in Karachi began a movement to combat blindness through eye donations. The movement started in 1968 with volunteers mostly students, their efforts, supported by leading ophthalmologists, public figures, poets, and writers, catalysed the fight against blindness in Pakistan.
What began as a corneal donation campaign grew into Pakistan Eye Bank Society (PEBS) — formally established in 1973 and registered as a Society in 1976. Today, PEBS has served over 10 million patients and grown into a multi-specialty healthcare institution offering eye care, dental services, free dialysis, cancer surgery, and cardiac care — mostly free of cost for those who cannot afford.
From humble beginnings in 1962 to Pakistan's leading eye care institution — witness our transformative journey of dedicated service.
