In 1962, a small group of passionate volunteers in Karachi began a movement to combat blindness through eye donations. Their efforts, supported by leading ophthalmologists, public figures, poets, and writers, catalysed the fight against blindness in Pakistan.
What began as a corneal donation campaign grew into Pakistan Eye Bank Society (PEBS) — formally established in 1973 and registered as a Society in 1976. Today, PEBS has served over 10 million patients and grown into a multi-specialty healthcare institution offering eye care, dental services, free dialysis, cancer surgery, and cardiac care — mostly free of cost for those who cannot afford.
From humble beginnings in 1962 to Pakistan's leading eye care institution — witness our transformative journey of dedicated service.
