Eye Donation
The gift of sight outlives us. Eye donation is where the PEBS story began – and it still changes lives every week.
Pakistan’s First Organised Eye Donation Movement
In 1968, volunteers in Karachi launched Pakistan’s first organised eye donation and cornea grafting campaign. Leading ophthalmologists, public figures, poets and writers joined the cause, and in 1975 PEBS organised the first-ever Cornea Grafting Week, during which 105 corneally blind patients received transplants.
Why Pledge Your Eyes
Corneal blindness is treatable – a donated cornea can restore sight to someone who has lived in darkness for years. A single pledge can give two people the gift of sight. Donated corneas are processed at the PEBS Eye Bank & Cornea Lab and grafted free of cost for patients who cannot afford surgery.
How to Pledge
Pledging is simple and costs nothing. Call our helpline 021-36908053 or contact us and our team will record your pledge and answer any questions – including religious and family concerns, which we are always happy to discuss.
Give the Gift of Sight
PEBS Hospital receives no government funding. Every service for the underprivileged is made possible by donors and volunteers.
